Krillin watched Bulma with a hooded curiosity. He didn’t want to offend her, her temper was nearly as vociferous as that of the man she lived with. And therein lay the source of his curiosity.

How could two people as stubborn and bull-headed as Bulma and Vegeta have a successful life together? Even as he sat at the kitchen table, sipping the lemonade that Mrs. Briefs had given him, he was witness to a furious argument.

“I said I wouldn’t go!”

“I don’t care what you said, you’re going!” Bulma yelled back.

“You don’t tell me what to do, woman!” Vegeta snarled, stomping through the kitchen. Amused, Krillin noted the way that Mrs. Briefs automatically reached out to steady a vase on the counter. For someone as fleet of foot as Vegeta normally was, he certain shook the house when he wanted to.

“I do when it comes to stuff like this!” Bulma screeched. “You have an appearance to maintain!”

“What do I care what you weaklings think of me?” Vegeta roared, accepting the glass that Mrs. Briefs held out for him. He drank the lemonade in a single gulp, and gently passed the glass back, even as he took another breath. “I am the Prince of all Saiyans!”

“Blah, blah, blah,” Bulma mocked him as she followed behind him. “I’ve heard this before. But you’re going! And that is all there is to it!”

Vegeta stopped and whirled on Bulma, this time stalking her backwards through the kitchen. She backed away from him, but the determination didn’t leave her face, even when she was pinned up against the wall.

“Woman, you try my patience,” Vegeta growled softly.

Krillin tensed, worry for his longtime friend pooling in his stomach, but Bulma merely smiled and threaded her arms around Vegeta’s neck. “So you’ll go then?”

“If it means that much to you and will stop you constant whining, I will go. I can’t get any training done while you carry on in such a manner, anyway.” Vegeta’s concession was anything but gracious, but Bulma looked like he had just told her that he’d bring her the moon.

“Thank you.” She leaned forward and pressed a kiss to his cheek, something that Krillin quickly turned away from watching. He could watch them fight, but this… Well, there were some things a warrior shouldn’t be asked to do.

“So, are you ready for the big day?” Mrs. Briefs asked, suddenly appearing at Krillin’s elbow with more lemonade. “It’s tomorrow, after all!”

“Ummm, yeah I suppose I am.” Krillin smiled at her, his thoughts suddenly brought back to the moment.

“Try to relax and enjoy it.” The perky blonde woman advised. “Weddings go by so fast that you forget the details practically before they’re over!”

Krillin swallowed… weddings. He was getting married. To a woman every bit as stubborn as Vegeta and Bulma.

Mrs. Briefs was oblivious to Krillin’s sudden unease. “Are you having fireworks after the ceremony?”

“Yes, she wanted them.”

“Good.” Bulma’s mom nodded in approval, even Bulma and Vegeta separated and went about their respective tasks. “Every relationship should have fireworks in it.”

Maybe that was their secret, Krillin mused. Suddenly, he grinned. If fireworks, metaphorical or otherwise, were the secret to a lasting relationship, he felt fairly certain that he and Android 18 stood a fighting chance.

“I feel certain ours will be filled with fireworks. Real and otherwise.” Krillin took the refilled lemonade and raised the glass in a silent toast in the direction where Bulma and Vegeta had departed. “Here’s hoping, anyway.”
