Short Stories Published?

Has anyone on my flist ever had a short story (original fiction) published? If so, do you mind telling me a little bit about how you did it? What kind of story? How did you find the publisher? Who did you find as a publisher?

I know for sure that at least two of you have published novels (*waves*) and I'm not there yet, but I think that I will start sending out short stories and seeing if I have any luck.

I found this website, which seems to have helpful hints, but I can't help but think that knowing someone who has actually done it would be really useful.
