Short Stories Published?

Has anyone on my flist ever had a short story (original fiction) published? If so, do you mind telling me a little bit about how you did it? What kind of story? How did you find the publisher? Who did you find as a publisher?

I know for sure that at least two of you have published novels (*waves*) and I'm not there yet, but I think that I will start sending out short stories and seeing if I have any luck.

I found this website, which seems to have helpful hints, but I can't help but think that knowing someone who has actually done it would be really useful.

It's not actually published yet, but my story "Vital Signs" was accepted for publication in Khimairal Ink. They were seeking submissions for a short story anthology and I submitted to that (I found out about the anthology through the News page on Academy of Bards). They didn't feel it was right for the anthology, but asked to use it in their magazine. So lose-win. :D
