A few notes:

1. Some of the links may lead to off LJ sites.
2. Each reader is responsible for double checking warnings on the story itself. It is not my job, nor the job of anyone else, to make sure you’re aware of the contents of the story.
3. I encourage you all to leave feedback for the authors! Feed the authors and they will continue to feed us.
4. This would not have happened if it were not for the generous help of many, many people. In particular, I would like to thank [livejournal.com profile] xenokattz for making the lovely banner, [livejournal.com profile] cadenzamuse for helping to advertise and [livejournal.com profile] lilacsigil for coding the recs list.
5. If you encounter any mistakes, please drop me a note in the comments and I’ll do my best to fix it quickly.
6. Fics with multiple recs are indicated with an *.
7. Lastly, feel free to squee in the comments if you’re so inclined.

[livejournal.com profile] alcimines wrote Maimed. PG. Emma Frost/Ororo Munroe, Kitty Pryde. I love dark fic and this is really dark. It's the aftermath of the big Human vs Mutant war and how we ended up here is really scary. I especially loved the little flashbacks to main events in the war, it's probably one of my favorite things to see.

[livejournal.com profile] alixtii wrote My Girlfriend Is A Telepath. PG. Kitty Pryde/Mindee Cuckoo, Bobby Drake/Rogue. This is another one of those times where teenagers are written as teenagers. They are so cute, and I love all the interaction between the characters. My only complaint would be that the Cuckoos aren't written creepy enough, but that's really okay with me.

[livejournal.com profile] alternatedoom wrote Plans and Assignments. NC-17. Victor/Kayla, implied Victor/Logan. Have to warn for nonconsensual but nonviolent sex. This is the scene that should've been in the movie, giving Kayla great justice but not shying away from the darkness.

* Apathy wrote Flight. PG. Ensemble but mostly Kitty. This is one of the most memorable X2 fics I've read because it's one of the most hauntingly real. What Kitty and the other students do after they escape from Stryker's forces isn't overly gorely nor is it sunshine and rainbows. It's just very simply heroic.

[livejournal.com profile] apocalypsos wrote The Man on the Flying Trapeze. PG. Warren Worthington III. Another author who adds a wealth of backstory to a side character.

[livejournal.com profile] _beetle_ wrote El Altera Vincit. R. Victor Creed/OMC, Victor Creed, Jimmy Logan. Great insight on Victor; great "what if" upon the events of "X-Men Origins:Wolverine". And a wonderful own character that can hold his own.

[livejournal.com profile] comeon_eileen wrote I'm Okay You're Okay. PG-13. Remy/Rogue. Because Rogue is sassy and kick-ass. Because Remy is an adorable cad. Because this is one of my standards for Bring-Remy-Into-Movieverse fics until XMO:W came out.

* [livejournal.com profile] seperis wrote Jus Ad Bellum. Up to R. Rogue and ensemble. This is epicly long, but worth the read. You just get sucked into this world and actually feel the same things as the protagonist (Rogue), as though you were living it with her.

* [livejournal.com profile] cycnus39 wrote Don't Drop the Soap. Adult/R. Team X (Wade and Victor specifically). Short and fun ficlet about the "dynamics" of Team X.

darkstar wrote Alive and Dying. PG-13. Poem. Logan/Rogue (you have to pay attention to see that that's what it's about, but it's definitely there) Why this fic is awesome: It's an amazing poem with turns of phrase that just stop you in your tracks and manage to twist your heart a little bit more. The images it creates are vivid and painfully exquisite.

[livejournal.com profile] diebin wrote Agony and Ecstasy. R. Rogue-centric, Wolverine/Rogue. I love this author and everything she's written, to save space I'm just reccing one story, which happens to be my favourite, but I strongly encourage you to read more of Diebins stuff. This one is nice and dark and angsty, and twisted. Self injury warning for those with squicks. Don't let the self injury stuff scare you off though, this is extremely well written.

[livejournal.com profile] harmonyangel wrote Logan's Infamous Canadian Sandwiches (The Young and Glorious Remix). Hisako, Pixie, background Scott/Logan. Because it was written for meeee! Terrific insight into Hisako and Pixie and their friendship!

[livejournal.com profile] inlovewithnight wrote Eyes Burning Bright. PG. Jean/Scott. Because Jean and Scott are alive, dammit, and together albeit with some disturbing implications that are neither confirmed nor denied.

[livejournal.com profile] ion_bond wrote Five Things To Do With Cerebro (post-X3). PG-13. Various students and staff of the school, implied Magneto/Xavier. Five things that happen in Cerebro after the Professor dies. They go from funny to sad to a little scary, and all of them are pretty fantastic. I can see the last part happening a little too easily, and that scares me a little.

Jenn ([livejournal.com profile] seperis) wrote For Now series. PG-13. Rogue, Logan, Rogue/Logan (eventually) with Jean and Xavier briefly featured. It's a neat portrayal of the growth *into* the relationship between Rogue and Logan.

Jenn ([livejournal.com profile] seperis) wrote Every Second Wednesday. PG-13. Rogue, with some Logan, Erik, and Xavier. It's creepy and chilling and well-written. Isn't that good enough of a reason to be awesome? ;)

jjblazer wrote Bugs. R. Rogue/Logan, eventually Jubilee. It's hilarious--Rogue and Jubilee are such conniving girls in this one--but all for a good cause. And Logan's blissfully oblivious about what's actually going on for so long that it's rather amusing. *g*

[livejournal.com profile] jjblazer wrote It's Raining Men. R. Rogue/Logan. It's a really neat AU (hilariously written in places!) where Rogue's living at home, pitied as the "poor mutant girl". And Logan's already met up with the professor--he just happens to do odd jobs for him here and there. Then one day, he lands in Rogue's backyard. Literally. *g*

Katherine wrote For Now (The F*** Waiting Remix). R. Logan/Rogue. It's the remix of the For Now series, portrayed from Logan's POV instead. I love it because you get to see more of how Rogue herself grows up and into being ready for a relationship with Logan.

[livejournal.com profile] kindkit wrote A Dish Best Served Raw. PG. Cyclops, Wolverine. Cyclops makes Wolverine eat worms, after the events of Ultimate X-Men, in which Wolverine tries to off Cyc in the Savage Land.

[livejournal.com profile] kindkit wrote The Death of Arthur. PG-13. Magneto. Movieverse, post X3, Magneto reflects, and it's both indepth and meaningful, but also very much in character

Kuria wrote The Fundamental Difference of Experience. R to NC-17. Mainly Bobby Drake/John Allerdyce, Kitty Pryde, Jubilee, Piotr Rasputin, other students and teachers. This is a long fic, and I do mean long. This fic is awesome, it's a great look at John and at how the mansion works when you're a student and by the end I just want to give everyone a hug for what they have to go through as mutants. Plus I love it when the teenagers are shown as teenagers, not these big fabulous heroes, and these kids are so perfectly written they could easily be normal kids at my school.

[livejournal.com profile] likeadeuce wrote The Busy Griefs. PG-13. Storm, Scott, Xavier, Logan, et al. It's the story of grief we didn't get to see in X2.

[livejournal.com profile] likeadeuce wrote Bad Day. PG-13. Storm, Scott, Xavier, Logan, et al. This is the six-months-later sequel to The Busy Griefs. A continuation of the grief we should've seen in X2.

[livejournal.com profile] likeadeuce wrote 20 Things You Might Not Know about Scott Summers. All Ages. An insightful look at an often misunderstood character, by turns funny, surprising, and heartbreaking.

[livejournal.com profile] likeadeuce wrote Like a Window in Your Heart. R. Scott Summers, Lee Forrester, Warren Worthington III. I have a lot of love for this fic. Post-X2 fic that has Scott dealing with his grief. Plus, mutant shrimp boat!

[livejournal.com profile] lilacsigil wrote Hide a Hundred Girls in Your Hair. PG. Jean/Phoenix, Raven/Mystique. It's fabulously creepy, Phoenix coming back from the dead and Raven's motivations for helping her.

[livejournal.com profile] lilly_pilly wrote Boyscout. PG-13. Logan and Warren, mentions of Scott. It's one of the few fics where I believed Logan's role as an Xavier's instructor.

[livejournal.com profile] little_murmurs wrote College-Bred Woman. PG-13. Moira MacTaggert. The author takes a side character (blink and you miss her!) and creates a very real person with flaws and strengths. Moira diffentiates herself from Xavier and Magneto. It's well researched and just plain ridiculously GOOD.

[livejournal.com profile] lonelywalker wrote Hyena. NC-17. Mystique. I love this look at Mystique's childhood and how she has shaped her life.

[livejournal.com profile] marag wrote Ami, Pas Amoureux Friend, Not Lover. PG-13. Jean-Paul Beaubier, Bobby Drake. Because it's about Jean-Paul in a very well-hidden vulnerable moment.

[livejournal.com profile] marag wrote The Great Marriage Boondoggle. PG. Scott/Jean, other teachers, assorted teenagers (some comic characters, some movieverse). It's lighthearted, funny, has a lot of good points on marriage and relationships, yet even has some action and a whole bunch of teens using mutant powers. You gotta love that.

[livejournal.com profile] marag wrote Point of Departure. G. Rogue. Because Rogue doesn't just sit and angst about her powers returning after X3; she gets angry and she tries to do something about it. And when it ends up that she can't, there's a wonderful interaction with Scott that makes me love him more as a teacher.

[livejournal.com profile] mi_thirteen wrote Predictable. R. Victor Creed/John Wraith (suggested). Great insight of both characters.

[livejournal.com profile] minisinoo wrote Letters and Papers from Prison. Unrated with warnings. Rogue, Scott, Xavier, Erik (Magneto). It's an incredibly serious and thoughtful exploration of the implications of Rogue having Erik Lehnsherr's memories from the Statue of Liberty incident.

[livejournal.com profile] minisinoo wrote Like Water. Unrated. Scott/Jean. It's a great treatment of the S/J/L triangle, explored through Scott's thoughts.

[livejournal.com profile] minisinoo wrote Climb the Wind. Unrated (dark, with "brutal nastiness", as the author calls it). Scott & Logan strong friendship. Despite major character death (do NOT read if you can't handle a main character dying!), it's a very good read, and even hopeful in some ways. Achingly beautiful.

[livejournal.com profile] musamea wrote Timelapse. PG. Jean/Scott. It's entirely too funny, creative and adorable. Especially the last picture.

[livejournal.com profile] ridesandrun wrote Wilderness Experience. Scott, Warren, Logan. Ridesandruns is the X-Men Queen of Snark and this fic is the latest (as of this posting) of a long series of hilarious one-shots involving mainly Scott and Logan. Read this and then go read everything else RidesandRuns has written!

* [livejournal.com profile] second_batgirl wrote Six Times Bobby Drake Helped with the X-Men's Taxes. PG. Bobby Drake and various X-Men. "Every year when tax season rolled around, it didn’t matter if Bobby was even speaking to the X-Men, he still ended up getting called to try to figure out what they’d done with their money." LOLS.

* [livejournal.com profile] september_chic wrote More than a Rogue (series). PG-13. Rogue-centric, Mystique, Logan. This fic takes the mess of X3 and continues the story, making the characters interesting and likeable again. It's also a believable but different take on what the failure of the cure could do to Rogue.

[livejournal.com profile] seriousfic wrote Ways to Fall. NC-17. Jean/Scott/Emma. Because after reading this, all you'll be able to think or utter is "guh."

[livejournal.com profile] sionnain wrote Invalid Address. PG-13. Logan, Jean/Scott. We become voyeurs into Scott & Jean's relationship through Logan. I defy you to remain dry-eyed after the final entry.

* [livejournal.com profile] smirnoffmule wrote All-Day Permanent Red. PG-13. Logan/OMC. One of the best things I've read this year – a brilliant look at Logan during WWII, sad and lovely.

[livejournal.com profile] spattergroit wrote Animals. NC-17. Logan/Ororo. It's AU, i.e., no mutants. I think it's still worth reading for the story it does tell about two broken people finding each other.

spikey44 wrote The Devil's Own. T. Remy LeBeau and ensemble. You like reading long stories with intricate plot and in-character protagonists? You love action mixed with character development? You want to be taken on a wild ride with twists and turns and many surprises on the way? Then this story is one for you. It focuses on the X-Men team of the 90s, Sinister comes calling and Gambit is fed up with his situation between a rock and a hard place. So he comes up with a devious plan, playing everyone around him like the con-man he is. But nothing is as it seems at first sight and the best laid plans are no guarantee for victory.

[livejournal.com profile] st_aurafina wrote Silver Lining in the Sky. PG. Wolverine (as a plane) and Scott (as his pilot). This story was written for a challenge in which one character needs to be a plane and the other the pilot. The worldbuilding in this fic is so rich and beautifully described that the landscape is palpable and it's a totally believable reimagining of Scott and Logan that manages to still remain completely in character.

[livejournal.com profile] st_aurafina wrote The Light Gets Into Your Heart. PG. Emma, Jean, Scott, Ororo. A great look into the friendships between the kids, as well as the beginnings of the X-Men.

[livejournal.com profile] stormkpr wrote Pride. PG-13. Jean-Paul/Bobby Drake, Jubilee, Rogue, Gambit, Beast, Jean Grey, Cyclops. The X-Men go to a gay pride parade and are adorable and they bond. I love little 'slice of life' stories and this is a really good one. The author is a really amazing writer and she had written a lot of other fic, my favorites being the several long ones where the X-Men are captured by the FoH, they're not for everybody (they can be a little triggery) but I really encourage people to go check those out too.

[livejournal.com profile] wizefics wrote By any other name. PG. Beast. The Beast fic. It maybe a bit cheeky to rec a Wizefic fic here, but this really is a cut above.

[livejournal.com profile] wizefics wrote Imperfect Contrition. R. Original 5 X-Men. Noir AU! Hot and complicated Jean/Scott! The original five meeting each other as less trusting, more world-weary adults!

ponderosa121 drew Go Easy. PG. Logan/Remy. Honestly, I know nothing about this verse but I admire Ponderosa’s art and I believe you will too.

ponderosa121 drew Taste for Blood. NC-17. Wolverine/Sabretooth. Honestly, I know nothing about this verse but if it’s like the others, I believe good art depicting hot M/M sex would not be amiss.
