Why this must be read: I have to be fair and admit that this was written for me in a ficathon. I hope that doesn't dissuade anyone from reading, because it's really and truly fantastic. It takes characters that have to make the hard decisions every day and explores why they do it. It looks at a girl as she grows to become a woman and realizes that her dreams may have been shinier than reality, but the end result is still worth fighting for.

And it has Agent Brand in it. Enough said, really.

For handyhunter who asked for Leverage, I have a great rec! This fic is hot off the presses, and I had the absolute pleasure of first reading it over at ficfinishing.

cuzimastripper wrote Mother Knows Best. PG-13. This fic is a Parker gen piece that ended up going Paker/Hardison, but the gen intent shines through. It's not really a fic about romantic relationships as much as it is about Parker and relationships to all the people she's ever met. It's fantastic and convoluted and sad and laugh out loud funny and just breathtaking. It's Parker and I love her. (I also love Parker/Hardison like burning, and the Hardison in this fic is just perfectly pitched, I think.) The best part of all? It's long and satisfying.

I need to read more Leverage fic. Clearly, it is awesome!

bergann wrote There's No Going Back. PG-13. This is an AU telling of the end of season 2. It's so wonderful and perfect that I wish it was how it had really happened. Michael/Victor pre-slash, it takes a look at the very broken man Victor has become and slowly, slowly, starts to repair him. Fantastic fic, one of my favorites, and I believe it has spawned sequels!

For super_pan who wanted Veronica Mars, and alas I have none, but she also said she'd accept Buffy and I happen to have a few of those. And, since she said she friended me for my crossover recs (*beams*), I should mention that I will do a post in the next day or so with a whole set of crossovers. Yay!

wisdomeagle wrote Wishing the World into Unbeing. PG-13. Ensemble. This was written for apocalyptothon in 2008 and it's a gorgeous piece. Every bit of it is haunting and melodic and rings true. The world ends not with a bang, but with a whimper.

girl_wonder wrote All Fall Down (have to get up again).Unrated, but probably PG13. Ensemble. I confess up front, this was written for me. And it is the single most perfect "Fix It" fic I've read after X-3. It is alternatively chilling, gorgeous, and painful. This is what I see in my head as canon, now. I really cannot recommend it enough!

Scary. Zombies. Awesome! These are all words that describe this fic and can I just mention how amazingly *awesome* the Castle voice is here? It's perfect!

Doctor Who

This is an alternate ending to probably my favorite episode of Season 4: Left Turn. It's brilliant and so very sad, but in a way that only happens in Doctor Who, isn't at the same time.

X-men (movie ‘verse, technically)

maharetr wrote Out beyond the breakers. R. Kitty/Rogue. Summary: The first time Rogue kisses her, it’s the end of the world.

This fic made me flail. Seriously flail. The story is truly scary, amazingly well told, and Kitty is my frigging hero after this. Also, millenniumrex, I'm looking at you – the Kitty/Rogue is brilliant and makes me want more, more, more.

I'm trying to clear some of the backlog of recs I need to make. Please remember to feedback the author if you like anything you find! It's always appreciated. :)

smirnoffmule wrote All Day Permanent Red. PG-13. Summary: Logan's never been one to back down from a fight, but in times of war, it's all too easy for things to just fall apart.

This fic isn't anchored in any particular comic, but it explores a lot of the issues of Logan's past and history. Written for the lgbtfest, this story explores the experience of being bisexual in one of the earlier eras of Logan's 100+ year lifespan. The pacing and the emotion of this story is pitch perfect and I was really blown away by it.

iambickilometer wrote better luck next time.Unrated. Spoilers for X-Factor #45, in particular, and X-Force, X-Factor in general. Summary: Some people got a way with words. Rictor doesn't.

This fic is hosted at Dreamwidth, but it was so good that I wanted to make sure I recced it. Plus, it is the only fic I've found thus far that deals with the recent events of X-Factor. I'm not as familiar with these characters, but the story unfolds brilliantly and by the conclusion, I felt like I knew Rictor, and through him, Shatterstar. Very nice writing.

Another fic that is set in general comicsverse, but it's too funny not to read. I like outsider POVs and Bobby, though not an outsider, has a very particular way of looking at his teammates. Plus, it's funny!

This fic was written by one of our wonderful mods and is awesome for a variety of reasons, not the least of which – it features Bobby Drake. Yes, this is relevant to my interests, but whether or not he's your favorite, this story is cute and insightful. Also, it has a lovely finale.

Summary: Thirty-five minutes. That's all Dean needed for this job. As long as everything went according to plan, of course.

But this is New Orleans, and nothing ever goes to plan. When Dean is interrupted mid-job by a stranger who strongly resembles a demon, the Plan is blown to hell and back. Dean eventually must join forces with the mysterious Remy LeBeau to try and undo the damage that they have done. Of course, Remy makes no secret about the fact that he has a secondary motivation that causes him to race around New Orleans to try and capture a vengeful spirit.

Author’s Notes: I owe a lot of thanks for this story. First, this story was written for windiain. I hope you enjoy it! Secondly, this story would never have made it this far if it weren't for the help and encouragement of catwomyn5 and pdantzler2.
