Remix

Okay, so I abandoned the ideas that I had. I just could NOT make them work. I did, however, find a fic that I can remix and have worked out a story idea. I even have 500 words of the fic. Now, I just need to make sure it's:

1) as layered as the original
2) not boring
3) hits all the same notes as the original (since that the "remix" part)
4) finished on time

This ficathon causes me stress every year. I don't know why I keep running back, except that I love it so.

I hope my remixer isn't stressing nearly as much as I am!

I think this year was the only year I wasn't absolutely frantic at the end of Remix, stressed out and sure my story sucked. I don't know why we keep coming back to this ficathon which makes us feel so bad, except it also feels so good.

I am in the editing stage, but it's time to stop fiddling with it myself and get a beta.

Don't forget to breathe. :) It really helped me to keep reading that passage in the FAQ that says it's not a gift exchange. I really hope I've done justice to my remixee's story and I hope the original author likes it, but when it's all said and done, the remix has got to be your story.

Good luck with it hon. I had mine written and then ended up going back and ripping it apart entirely again. I'm sure the end result will be awesome, though!

I've known what story I wanted to remix since day one. I have fairly strong ideas about how I want to remix it, too. I finally started writing it sometime last week. My word count so far? 288. And that's if I don't rip it up yet again. *headdesk*

But I will have it done, betead, and delivered on time, dammit.

This is my first year doing Remix, and I'm pretty sure it's the most challenging fic exchange I've ever done.

I wound up turning a drabblet into a full-blown fic, because my writer tends to write a lot of 100,000 word epics that I wouldn't feel comfortable going near. XD
