A/N: Again, not quite what I had intended, but June!Challenge Day Fourteen is done.
Akito sat motionless on his futon, a blanket draped over his
shoulders. He was sick, again. He was always sick. In the
Christian religion, God loved the world so much that He sent his son
to die for them. Akito did not love the world. The world was a
terrible place; worse, he was dying and he knew it.
Momiji… Hatori… Kureno… Hatsuharu…
Akito knew his place in the legend. Akito understood that his
thoughts would never be far away from his metaphysical sons and
daughters. None of his children would die for him. None of them
could. It was his role in the curse.
Kagura… Isuzu… Shigure… Yuki…
True, all of his children were not loved. All of them were not
wanted. Certainly not all of them were worthy of his attention. Kyo
barely deserved a mention and was not even considered a child. But
the rest of them, he worried over them. Tried to love them. After
all, was that not the role of God? To love his children despite
themselves?
Ayame… Hiro… Ritsu… Kisa
They were so helpless without him, like babies. They didn't
understand that they couldn't go into the world; that the world was
no place for his children. They would be hurt. It was safer if he
locked them away and he would do it to protect them if he had to.
After all, they were all his children. And he was their God.
