(This is my suggestion for an easy way to pimp the Recathon.)

Twelve Fandoms. Twelve Days.

Rec Your Favorite Fics Here!
Hey people!

Just wanted to let everyone know that signups are open!!!

Go and take a peek, see if you're interested. Right now, I may extend sign ups a bit longer.

Edit: If you wonderful people don't mind giving me a signal boost, I'd appreciate it! Sign ups are low...
I thought some of you might be interested in these things:

* [livejournal.com profile] holmes_big_bang sign ups are now open! (I'm terribly indecisive about this. Anyone interested in potentailly cowriting? I have an idea that could either be gen or Holmes/Watson friendly - like the movie - that I would propose.)

* [livejournal.com profile] rounds_of_kink is accepting prompts! (Time to ask someone to write that pr0n story you really secretly want!)

* [livejournal.com profile] dark_fest is accepting prompts! (This comm could be dangerous to your soul... or maybe just to your free time!)
[livejournal.com profile] crack_van is requesting volunteers for Small Fandom Month (December!). You can sign up here.

I mention this because I sure would like to see recs for TSCC, Burn Notice or a variety of other small fandoms.

I don't have time to do it this year, but I encourage you guys to think about it!
Hi folks!

I know some of you are waiting to make recs, and that's fine, but I would ask you to consider advertising and sending people this way.

Here is a list of fandoms and approixate numbers of recs thus far:

Crossovers – 50 +
Doctor Who ~ 15
Firefly/Serenity ~10
Highlander - <5
Iron Man - 0 (????)
Leverage - <5
Magnificent Seven ~ 5
NCIS - <5
StarTrek Reboot - <10
Supernatural - <5
Torchwood - <5
X-Men - <10

Now, I'm not worried (yet), but we are 1/3 of the way through the recs period and some of these lists are looking scant.

Advertisers, how are you doing? If you need help, let me know! I'd rather you tell me now when I can find someone than at the last minute.

If you want to help with advertising, check out this post to find out how!
(This is an example of how I imagine the advertisements to look. You may be as creative as you'd like if you're advertising. Thanks!)

Rec Your Favorite Fics Here!
We're down to the last 24 hours to vote (roughly, anyway).

The list as it stands now - significantly different from the one I posted just a few days ago - is this:

Crossovers (61)
Doctor Who (44)
Firefly/Serenity (62)
Highlander (43)
Iron Man (43)
Labyrinth (33)
Leverage (49)
NCIS (38)
StarTrek Reboot (41)
Supernatural (34)
Torchwood (36)
X-Men (46)

Phew. NCIS came out of NOWHERE, man. I'm impressed! Also, are you Bat fans going to let that happen to your fandom? What about Burn Notice? Those are the two in the closest contention, followed immediately by Narnia?

So, how about it folks? Is this going to be our list? Or not?

Only time will tell.

Voting closes tomorrow. Make sure you vote and tell people to come and vote before it's too late!
I'm... a little amazed, both at how many people have stopped by to vote and at which fandoms are winning.

Voting doesn't end until October 24, so there is still time to advertise on your own LJs and vote to change the outcome, but right now, the top 12 fandoms represented are:

Castle (24)
Crossovers (42)
Doctor Who (30)
Firefly/Serenity (45)
Highlander (31)
Iron Man (38)
Labyrinth (25)
Leverage (30)
StarTrek Reboot (31)
Supernatural (26)
Torchwood (27)
X-Men (34)

That's right. There isn't a single fandom winning with fewer than 24 votes.

Color me shocked.

So, are the fandoms you want on the list? If not, poke some friends into coming and voting.
This is the last call for fandom nominations for the 2009 Holiday Recathon.

Make your nominations before I close the poll, which will either be tonight or tomorrow morning when I get up.

Thanks!
If you're interested in making sure you're fandom is eligible, don't forget to nominate it here.

Thanks!
If you read the Utopia crossover series, there are a lot of excellent prompts waiting to be claimed. I encourage everyone to take a look and participate. The ficathon is being hosted by [livejournal.com profile] xmen_on_lj, another great resource that I encourage folks to investigate.

Rambles

Sep. 20th, 2009 11:38 pm
* My [livejournal.com profile] femgenficathon fic is now over 5,000 words. I think it's probably about halfway done. I hope, anyway. I already think there may be an audience of about five for a Brand fic, and that's before it gets to 10,000 words. Oh well.

* I'm really liking the story that I'm getting to tell in the Brand fic, now titled, "Dancing with the Devil."

* My [livejournal.com profile] heroines_fest fic is not progressing that quickly, but it will also not be nearly as long. Thankfully. Especially since it's due first.

* I slept a lot this weekend. I mean a whole lot. I didn't make it out of bed until noon today. It's kind of scary how tired I am. But, I do feel better, so I'm glad that I canceled my plans and instead played the part of a slug today.

* Nanowrimo is around the corner. I'm planning to play again this year. Hell, I'm planning to win this year, which will be a first! *lol* Anyone else signing on for the insanity?

* [livejournal.com profile] xmen_on_lj is hosting it's first fic challenge. Details can be found here. I encourage all X-fen to go and check it out. It should be amazing.

That's it for now. Night all!
[livejournal.com profile] ficfinishing is gearing up. Actually, today is the last day to sign up, so go and sign up!

Fandoms added this round include Batman (*ahem* I know there are Bat writers on my flist), Dollhouse, and Twilight.

Also, the X-men fandom could *really* use some First Readers. It's just cheerleading, and not beta reading, so I encourage you to go and sign up. Also, I could use some cheering, so please?

Thanks!
The community [livejournal.com profile] stagesoflove is kicking off another round. Basically, sign up for a set of themes and pick your favorite OTP and hit the road running. You have five weeks to finish all five themes - one a week.

BUT, each piece can be as short as you'd like (at least 100 words). So, it's not high pressure at all (well, barely high pressure). Regardless, it's a lot of fun.

So, go for it!
[livejournal.com profile] heroines_fest, where its all about the women of comics.

Go and check it out!
1. [livejournal.com profile] marvel_crossing is almost over. I'm missing exactly one story and the pinch hitter is on it. As soon as it comes in, I will be happy to draw a line under it, though. I had a blast, and was thinking that a fest might be fun (crossover marvel movies with any other fandom, prompts with claming). Thoughts? It won't be for a while, though. I'm still recovering from the last round. Of course if someone else wants to take charge, I'll gleefully turn over the reigns.

2. [livejournal.com profile] ficfinishing is now accepting X-men and Burn Notice. In addition, other fandoms that I think are of general interest - Whedon-verses, Whoniverses (except Sarah Jane), Star Trek-verses, Terminator-verses, and a lot more. I mention this in particular because right now X-men is in need of first readers (no writing required, just cheerleading!) and I need a first reader for a Brandt fic. *ahem* Also, it's fun and there are lots of great tips for getting WIPs to the complete category.

3. [livejournal.com profile] sequentialcrack is still in need of reccers for ALL of their categories, but the DC vans are woefully understaffed. It's kind of surprising. (The Batverse is taken care of, but the rest? Not so much. So if you are interested in making recs, go and sign up!) Also, Spiderman needs love.

4. I have some new features that I'll be adding to [livejournal.com profile] xmen_on_lj since the mods were enthusiastic about my suggestions. It's really turning out to be quite fun! But, for the X-writers on my list, I have a question - what sort of general writing topics would you be interested in discussing? That section is kicking off in two weeks, so I thought I'd get some ideas, first.

5. I am totally asking for Spiderman and His Amazing Friends fic in Yuletide this year. Just in case any of you want to be prepared. *grins*
Hey all, the group [livejournal.com profile] ficfinishing is one of my favorite communities on LJ. It's very helpful to, you know, finish fics... *shifty eyes*

Anyway, for a fandom to be added, it needs votes. So... I would appreciate it if my fellow X-fen would go to the voting page and vote for X-men.

Feel free to vote for other fandoms as well!
