A few more Yuletide Recs
Dec. 28th, 2007 11:41 pmI'm slowly but surely making my way through the archive (at least the fandoms I know) and I have a few things to rec if anyone is interested!
1776 - Oh, how I squeed like the dorky fangirl I am when I saw fic, of any sort, in this fandom! *bounces around like a dolt* And The Mere Shadow of a Man is worth bouncing over. I'll give a warning for fairly explicit slash, but the premise made me laugh out loud.
The 10th Kingdom - Birth Pains. This is a great look at what happens after "Happily Ever After" and it explores the problems that would exist in a cross-species pregnancy. Well done and engrossing, but definitely dark and ominous in places. Really worth a read!
Beauty and the Beast - Does anyone else remember this television show from the 80s? I loved it. My mother and I watched it every week. The Sixth Heaven is an AU geared to an earlier time line that fits with the spirit of the show incredibly well. These are the characters that I loved, even if things happened differently for them. Beautifully written, this is a great story that shouldn't be missed!
Brokeback Mountain - A Man's God-Given Right. This is beautiful and I so wish that the original had ended this way. A definite AU, but it gives the reader what they wished to see.
Cable & Deadpool - The Forth Wall. I'm only familiar with this comic very loosely and have no idea who the characters in this are. It doesn't matter. This is hysterical and written very much for anyone who likes comics (or manga!). Familiarity with the source may be helpful, but it's not necessary!
