Title: A Mother's Embrace (Three Seperate Drabbles)
Author: [livejournal.com profile] wizefics
Characters/Pairing: Celebrían, Elladan, Elrohir
Rating: All Audiences
Warnings: Hmmm, smush?
Book/Source: LOTR, vaguely movie-ish, as is all of my LOTR fics, but not really noticeable
Disclaimer: Not mine, but Tolkien wanted to build a mythology and I think that gives me the right to play in this sandbox.
A/N: I had hoped that these drabbles could each stand on their own. I'm not sure if I managed that, but... I did my best! As always, feedback is welcome and appreciated. Written for the weekly drabble challenge at [livejournal.com profile] tolkien_weekly - "The Dark"

A soft gasp, followed by a quiet cry, propelled her swiftly down the hallway. Opening the door, she saw a face buried in a pillow to muffle sobs and tiny shoulders quivering in distress. "Peace, ion-nin, t'was only a dream."

Two eyes, so like hers, so like his father's, stared up at her, shimmering in the light of the candle she carried, silver tracks making their way down past a trembling lip. "Nana… there were monsters…"

"Hush, darling." She held him close. "You are safe with me."

"Nana, will you stay?"

"Aye, Elrohir, for as long as you need me."

**************

Elladan awoke, the memory of a nightmare not his own fading in his thoughts, and looked for Elrohir. Turning, he saw his naneth rocking his twin in their shared bed. "Roh," he mumbled sleepily. "Don't cry."

"Did I wake you, Elladan?" Celebrían asked, softly. He shook his head, hair falling messily into his eyes.

"Sorry, brother." Roh's whisper was subdued, embarrassed, and El instantly reached out, resting a comforting hand on his back.

"Why? I don't mind. You share my dreams, too." He sat up and leaned into the comforting warmth of his nana. "You're not alone in the dark."

***************

"There were so many, I couldn't fight them away," Roh whispered, trembling, eyes betraying his upset.

"They are gone now." Celebrían kissed his forehead, feeling the dampness of fear on her youngest's brow. "'Twas just a dream."

"What if they come back?"

"I will help you chase them away," El promised, eyes drifting shut, as he was lulled to sleep by his mother's soft humming. Roh thought over El's words, before his own eyes fluttered, and closed. Sighing, he relaxed as sleep claimed him again, safe in his mother's arms and his brother's promise.

"Sweet dreams to you both, beloveds."
