Request: Seeing Attractiveness
Warnings: A bit spoilery perhaps for X-3, but only if you've already seen it... so, none really.
A/N: This was the first thing I thought of when I saw this request. Hope it amuses! For June!Challenge Day 22
Life was not easy. It was not pretty and it was usually not fun. These were lessons that Raven Darkholme had learned at a very young age. When she was fourteen, her skin had turned blue. Her hair had turned an unnatural shade of vibrant red. Her eyes glowed yellow.
Better or worse… she had learned that she could look like anyone she wanted. She could be the most beautiful woman in the world and she often looked that way. Men fawned after her. They lusted after her and she reveled in it.
She could be anything for anyone. Men, women, there was nothing that she could not be.
Except herself… When she didn’t transform…when it took too much energy or concentration… people feared her. Their eyes showed not want, but revulsion. They pointed, they screamed, they ran… they hurt her.
Her own family named her demon and tried to kill her. They had failed and it had been their last failure.
But she had learned. She had learned to be hard, to be dangerous. She became as scary on the inside as she was on the outside and she learned that she couldn’t regret that. So she had pulled away, leaving the miserable human race to its miserable existence.
Until she had met him. Erik told her she was beautiful and she believed him. He looked at her with interest and with want… and he looked at her when he did so. Blue skin did not scare him. Red hair did not repulse him. Yellow eyes intrigued him.
Better or worse, he liked her for what she was as much as for what she looked like. He reveled in her hard edges. He lusted after her for her dangerousness.
And she loved him for it.
