Rogue studied Jean with an air of indifference. She watched the doctor move with casual grace, apparently oblivious to the way that every male eye in the room watched her.

Bobby tried to be subtle, at least. He kept his head down like he was reading the assignment. But Rogue saw the small adjustments he made to keep Dr. Grey in his sights. John didn’t even try to be cool about it. He watched the red-headed doctor openly, his attention wandering first over her body, and then out the window, and then back to the relaxing teacher at the front of the room. Peter paid more attention to his lesson than to the teacher, but even he could be caught giving Dr. Grey appreciative glances from time to time.

Rogue wasn’t interested in cell mitosis. She was interested in human sexuality. She knew that the boys occasionally glanced at her the same way, too. Eyes presumably meeting hers, and then dropping down to look at her body when her attention was turned away. But it wasn’t the same… So, she, too, studied Dr. Grey, rather than the lesson the Dr. had assigned.

It wasn’t just the other students who looked at her that way. Mr. Summers was obviously so in love that it nearly hurt him. He tried to be matter-of-fact about it, the same way he approached nearly every other facet of his life, but even without being able to see his eyes, Rogue had noticed how he was always aware of Jean. Where she stood, where she sat, who she talked to, when her glass was empty…

Logan had been more blunt than any of the rest of them. When Rogue had touched him after that awful night with the nightmare, she had absorbed him enough to know that he was interested. When he had touched her after that awful night on Liberty Island, she absorbed everything. Logan wasn’t aware of Jean in the same way that Scott was, as if Jean was an extension of himself almost. He hunted her. He sought her. He tried to win her away.

And he had failed, which only drove him to greater lengths… and eventually driven him away.

Rogue knew he’d be back though. She could still occasionally feel his obsession with the red-headed doctor, and idly, she wondered if it was what drove her to study Jean herself. The way that Jean talked, the way she smiled, the way her hips swayed as she walked up and down the aisle between the desks.

Rogue frowned. She wasn’t sure if Logan’s memories were affecting her that much or not. But she was sure that her own desires drove her to continue with her observation. Because Logan would be back some day. And then Rogue intended to give Jean a run for her hair-tossing, wide-smiling, hip-swaying money.
