Tell me you want to play and I'll pick up to three of your fandoms.
You must then update your journal and answer the following questions:

1. What got you into this fandom in the first place?
2. Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
3. Favorite episodes/books/movies, etc?
4. Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
5. Do you think more people should get into this fandom?

[livejournal.com profile] strangevisitor7 picked Burn Notice, X-men and Psych.

X-men

I'm going to start with X-men, because, appropriately, it was my very first fandom. I went searching for stories having to do with a certain topic (which escapes me at the moment) and I found an epic X-men fanfic that someone had written. I'm pretty sure it must have answered whatever question I had, because I read the entire thing. It took me a week!

Then, I debated for a long long time about whether or not I should email the author, because it seemed so very presumptious on my part. Really, how could anyone who had written something that awesome care what I thought? But then I decided it couldn't hurt her feelings, so I emailed her a short email along the lines of, "I loved your story."

To my very great surprise, she emailed me back and said, "Thanks." She also said that there were entire internet places where people hung out and wrote X-men fanfic. I almost didn't believe her, but she'd cleverly included a link. I went to the group, spent another two weeks reading, and I was hooked.

I started posting fanfic myself within a month. This was back in 2002. Eventually, the group died, and I moved on to other fandoms, but then I discovered LJ and my love for X-fic came roaring back.

I don't think I'll ever leave it now. I'm too invested. My comics collection is alarming, my love of all the movies (yes, all of them!) is disturbing, my gleeful willingness to figure out how to cross the X-fandoms with any other fandom in existence is pathetic, the speed with which I abandoned all other possible activites to watch the 90s cartoon last weekend with my sister is appalling, and I love it all so much!

I do participate in this fandom. I write and read a lot of fic for it. I participate (and now organize) ficathons in this world for the precise purpose of seeing more fic. I'm artistically challenged, so no graphics or such from me.

I think everyone should get into this fandom. I mean, superheroes!! But mostly, I mean superheroes who are exactly normal in every way but for one tiny genetic difference. I'm fascinated by the ways in which each character has to decide what that tiny difference means to them in the long run. It's a great fandom, filled with rich characters and compelling stories.

Also, there are some truly incredible fanfic writers in this fandom.

Burn Notice

I fell into Burn Notice by accident. It was halfway through the first season and my friend calls me and says, "You really need to watch this show. You'll love it."

I was skeptical, but she said, "The main character reminds me of you so much that I can't believe it."

Well, with a statement like that, I was hooked. I started watching and from "Guns make you stupid. Duct tape, duct tape makes you smart." – I was done.

I have loved Michael ever since, and the more I watch, the more I love. I love Fiona and her epic fucked-upness. I love Sam and his Bromance-y ways. I adore Madeleine, who tries so hard. And Nate. Nate is my family.

There is a reason that Michael sounds like me and vica versa. While I'm hardly an awesome spy type, I get a lot of the rest of it.

I will stay in this fandom for as long as the tv show runs, and then I'll probably always be happy to revisit it. If the fandom were bigger, I might be inclined to stay here longer, but the fun of fandom is the interactions, and Burn Notice is tiny to the point of miniscule.

So, definitely more people should get involved.

My favorite episode? That is way too hard a choice. There are no episodes that I'd turn off. And I'm so very excited for season three in a few weeks! *glee*

Psych

I don't really remember why I started watching Psych. But I remember loving it from the first second and still loving it. The same friend who introduced me to Burn Notice reminds me of Gus (except I’m the geekier of us) and I definitely play up Shawn when I'm around her.

Plus, it's nice to say things like, "Who wants waffles? Melted butter? Maple syrup? What?!" and have it be a secret code of friendship.

I love Gus. Epically love him, but I really adore all of the other characters, too. Henry and Shawn and their issues. Lassiter and Juliet. Chief Karen Vick. Buzz! They're all too cute.

My favorite episode would probably be American Duos followed very closely by Tuesday the 17th (which scared me half to death when I watched it).

I imagine, like Burn Notice, I'll be here as long as it's fun. I'm not terribly active with it as a fandom, but I do occasionally dabble and I do love it. :)
