A fic list for the man who has everything…

A few notes:
1. Some of the links may lead to off LJ sites.
2. Each reader is responsible for double checking warnings on the story itself. It is not my job, nor the job of anyone else, to make sure you’re aware of the contents of the story.
3. I encourage you all to leave feedback for the authors! Feed the authors and they will continue to feed us.
4. This would not have happened if it were not for the generous help of many, many people. In particular, I would like to thank
xenokattz for making the lovely banner,
cadenzamuse and
ithildyn for helping to advertise and
isilweth for coding the recs list.
5. If you encounter any mistakes, please drop me a note in the comments and I’ll do my best to fix it quickly.
6. Fics with multiple recs are indicated with an *.
7. Lastly, feel free to squee in the comments if you’re so inclined.
quigonejinn wrote Accountable. R. James Rhodes and Tony Stark. It's an alternate reality: What if Tony had built the Mark II for Rhodey instead of himself? NOTE: ALL of Quigone's stories are amazing.

Five Clones, the five part series starts here. R. Tony Stark, Clone!Tony, Pepper Potts, Obadiah Stane. Obadiah tries to clone Tony, with very mixed results. There is nothing not to love here. Also, it is Every Shade of Wrong.
Anything and Everything. NC-17. Obadiah Stane, OMC (Andy the personal assistant). I love dark fic, I really do. Andy is a great character, you can really feel how he feels the whole time he's working for Obadiah. It's a really creepylook at his state of mind leading up to the movie and a couple of the lines really gave me chills.

Dust is Gonna Settle. R. Maria/Howard Stark. I really don't know a lot about Tony's parents and after reading this I feel like I don't need to know anything else because this captured them pretty perfect for me. Maria is way too old for her age and she fits with Howard so perfectly. Their relationship is kind of creepy and kind of sweet at the same time and I love how they are together, especially at the end.
Proof. PG-13. Tony Stark/Pepper Potts. Pepper weathers what would surely be one of the unique trials of being an assistant to Tony Stark.

Real Friends Help You Get Naked. PG-13. Tony Stark, Pepper Potts, Rhodey, Jarvis, Happy. hackthis writes the whole cast amazingly, they're all so funny and perfectly in character and I can really see this actually happening. Poor Tony, that suit just causes so many problems for him! XD
Being of Sound Mind and No Body. PG-13. Tony Stark, Pepper Potts, Jarvis. Tony teaches Jarvis about sex. You really don't need any other reason to read this, do you?
Three Men and a Lady (and Her Boss). PG-13. Pepper/Rhodey, Pepper/Agent Coulson, Pepper/Happy, Pepper/Tony. Tony cockblocks Pepper. A lot. Poor Pepper, at least he buys her nice shoes.
It Takes a Village to Raise a Tony Stark. PG-13. Tony, Pepper, Rhodey, Jarvis, Happy. A day in the life of one Tony Stark and the primary people who have a love/hate relationship with his eccentricities.
His Girl Friday. Or Saturday. Maybe Sunday. PG. Pepper Potts, Tony Stark. Pepper is so kick ass and put-together in the film, you want to be her or hate her. This story shows her pre=Stark Industries-- still smart and determined but maybe not so put together and desperate for a job. Most of us have been there; this gives hope.

samdonne wrote The Kids Aren't All Right. PG. Christine Everhart, Tony Stark. I'm pretty sure everyone's read this by now but it's just SO AWESOME, you should all read it again. It looks and reads exactly like a magazine article and turns Christine Everhart back from a blonde notch in Tony's belt to an insightful journalist. This is another one of those fake news articles that give a fantastic look into the characters. I really love this version of things, it's pretty fantastic and a little sad at the same times. Brilliant 'outsiders' look at Tony from Christine's perspective.
zionangel wrote Skynet and Stilettos. PG-13. Tony Stark, Pepper Potts, and Jarvis. Because it's all dialogue and hilarious. "Get in the shower if you want to live."
cincoflex wrote Grilled. R. Tony Stark and Pepper Potts. It's an IM conversation that goes terribly awry for Tony.
inlovewithnight wrote Fabricated. Unrated. Rhodey. : I love the depiction of a man on the edge, doing his job but with an intensity that wouldn't be there if it was someone besides Tony.
dancingbutterfly wrote Extraordinary. PG-13. Rhodey and Tony. The characterization of both characters. You believe that this is their backstory, Rhodey's backstory. After reading this fic, I wanted more.
hegemony wrote The Constant Road Across the Wilderness. R. Pepper Potts/Jim Rhodes. I remember being floored by this fic, the depth of emotion. The voices are wonderful and real. The phases of their grief feels almost tangible in the way that anyone that has experiences grief could relate. It's a pairing that I hadn't thought of and by end I was convinced of the pairing being so right even outside of Tony.
amonitrate wrote The Priming Game. None given. Tony Stark, James Rhodes. Pretty much anything Amonitrate writes in this fandom becomes part of my personal canon for the movie. This is a missing scene, set between when Tony is rescued and he returns home. The voices are spot on and the story itself is heartbreaking and exquisite.
svilleficrecs wrote A Small and 100 Percent Innocent Token of Gratitude. NC-17. Tony/Pepper. For anyone who has seen Pepper Potts shoe choices, it will come as no surprise that a foot rub could be the way to her heart. But this is a slow escalation and a story that manages to be both sweet and hot.
mspotts wrote That Time with the Dobermans (and the Hole in the Wall). PG. Tony/Pepper. At some point, someone was going to attempt to kidnap Pepper and this fic showcases her at her indignant finest. After all, Tony didn't hire her to be a damsel in distress.
queen_hag wrote Blame the Coffee. PG-13. Tony/Pepper. Perfect in-character banter with off-the-charts UST.
marinarusalka wrote Engine of Survival. PG-13. Yinsen. marinarusalka took a side character and fleshed him out so well, so three-dimensionally with such skillfull story-telling that every time I watch Ironman now, I can't help but think of this story. I also give it three cheers for featuring a character of Middle-Eastern descent in a positive light.
VR Trakowski wrote Palmer's Kiss. PG. Pepper/Tony. It's a well-paced, very much in character depiction of how Tony realises he's fallen for Pepper and how Pepper stops denying that she's fell for Tony a long time ago. I also like the use of modern media almost like a villain, or at the very least an obstacle.
COMIC-VERSE
old_blueeyes wrote What We Have In Common. M. steve Rogers (Captain America)/Tony Stark (Iron Man)/Maria Hill. It's both hot and heartbreaking, and the end is like a kick in the gut. Really well written smut that you know is destined to end badly.
likeadeuce wrote The 3 AM Phone Call. PG. Tony Stark, Maya Hansen, Henry Hellrung, Steve Rogers. Terrific insight into Tony, his self-destructive behavior and how other people view him.
ponderosa121 drew Horizons. PG. Tony/Steve. Honestly, I know nothing about this verse but I admire Ponderosa’s art and I believe you will too.
