Last year, I attempted to participate in Nanowrimo for the first time. It was a miserable failure, for various reasons.

But I won't fail this year. I'm prepared! I'm set! Any I've got a writing buddy who wants to go through a practice round in September. It seemed like a good idea, and I thought I would share it.

So here it is! The Gauntlet!

Challenge: Write 10,000 words (approximately 30 pages Times New Roman) on any one story in the month of September.

I figured the more the merrier, so I am throwing this open to anyone who wants to play. You pick the story, I don't care if its original fiction or fanfiction. But the challenge is 10,000 words, one story, one month.

So, does anyone want to play? *grins*

If you do, drop a note here in the comments. I'll post weekly update posts, and once it's over, I'll put together a Master List and pimp it out a bit.

So... jump on in. :D

This sounds interesting - I've got a sci fi story I've been meaning to write, but I don't want to waste NaNoWriMo on it. Perhaps, though - why not start an LJ comm? It'd only be active that one month, and more people might participate. *shrug*

This sounds like a good idea (I found you through another community advertising this). Can you add me to the list?

Nice! Chapters are allowed, right? I've been meaning to do a sequel to that Supergirl fic I wrote years ago, and this could be the right motivation. :D

I'm in! At first it sounded like a silly idea, but then I realized that an even sillier idea would be spending the next THREE months on my current story and having it turn out half the length and without the extra oomph that only a ridiculous deadline can provide. Everybody wins!

Cool! I might be up for this - I'll go check out the comm. I'm starting to think I need deadlines more than I realised.
