ficwize | Challenge: To Err is Human (Or Something Like That)

I hope you don't mind, flist, but I'd like to post a little challenge. No pressure, and a low key due date of April 1, if anyone wants to play. :)

So, here's the challenge - take a character that you truly, honestly
*love* and show them doing something wrong or doing something for the
wrong reason.

To qualify, it can't be something that is sort of kind of wrong, but
with extenuating circumstances. It can't be something, that in light
of the character's past, s/he doesn't recognize as wrong.

EVERYONE has flaws. We all make mistakes. I've made about a dozen
of them today, and I think it would be interesting to see a beloved
character dealing with the fall out of a bad choice that s/he made.
Who's upset? Who's angry? Who's hurt?

And, more importantly, what happens afterward? Does Character X
redeem him/herself? How? WHY? Do they believe they were in the
wrong, or do they do it just to smooth things over?

Also, just for my own perverse curiosity, please make it a character
that you genuinely like, not just one that is usually recognized as a
good guy. For example, if I wrote Clark Kent doing something
dishonorable, it wouldn't have that much of an impact on *me*. I
like him, but I wouldn't be upset by it. On the other hand, writing
Bobby Drake doing something dishonorable would probably make me sit and
think for a while.
