“Do you ever wish that you were someone else?” Elrohir asked, voice troubled.

“Like who?” El yawned, looking up from a book.

“I don’t know.” Roh met his twin’s eyes. “Anyone who didn’t bear your responsibilities, I suppose.” He paused. “Someday you could be the ruler of Imladris.”

Surprised by the question, El lowered his book thoughtfully. “When we were elfings, I used to love tinkering in the metal shop – swords and shields and armor. I wanted to make them. But I would never have chosen to be anyone other than who I am.”

“And who are you?”

“Your twin.”
