As some of you have probably guessed, I'm going to make some Watchmen recs. :)

I have to admit, my reading has been very limited in this field, because the source is very complicated and I want my fic to be representative of that. For reasons that both fascinate and confuse me, most of the truly jaw dropping fic that I've read has been about Ozymandias (Adrian Veidt), so most of these recs are going to be about him as well.

If you hare holding back any other recs, please be a doll and share. :)

Anyway, on with the reccage! (11-15 of the 30 recs I plan to make this month.)

**************

[livejournal.com profile] eugenetapdance wrote Eleven Photographs of Boys. R. Adrian Veidt/Various. A/N: In 1985, the internet was mainly academic and military, so just where is Adrian getting all his porn? I'm betting he takes photos himself, bbs. Here is a slightly angsty, Very Serious chronicle of where Adrian gets his wank material. God what am I doing with my life writing serious fiction about what pictures a superhero masturbates to. Before reading this fic, I recommend a cursory wiki-ing of Amiri Baraka, formerly known as LeRoi Jones, and Joe Dallesandro. And maybe you should look up Prop 6 and Anita Bryant, although if you saw Milk, you'll probably know what I'm on about.

This fic is so well done that it has entered my personal fanon about Adrian Veidt. It's truly a brilliant piece of writing and will leave you breathless long after you finish reading it.

[livejournal.com profile] glitterburn wrote Feet of Clay. R. Adrian Veidt/Alexander the Great/Hephaistion. Adrian goes back in time to Libya, 331 BC in order to meet the one man who’s ever truly meant anything to him.

This fic took my breath away. Adrian Veidt admires only one man. What happens to him when he meets that one man? No hero lives up to imagination – not a man who lived thousands of years ago, and not one who lives in the present. I cannot explain how incredible this is – just go and read it.

[livejournal.com profile] smirnoffmule wrote King of Kings. NC-17. Adrian Veidt / OMCs, 'Look upon my works, ye mighty, and despair'. Or, the post-coital emptiness that follows the end of the world. "-to a child, it might have been painful, to a layman faintly intimidating, but to the man who was Ozymandias, it was the bat of a kitten dreaming of a lion. He had made himself immune to touch. The muscles he had once used to flinch had atrophied."

What happens afterward? What becomes of the man who dared to do the unthinkable? This piece almost made me feel sorry for Adrian Veidt.

[livejournal.com profile] peridium wrote Put the Atom Back Together. PG-13. Jon Osterman/Adrian Veidt. In less than five minutes, Adrian is going to kiss him, and he’ll be surprised. In which Dr. Manhattan finds himself repeatedly drawn to the smartest man in the world and the third-to-last scene of the comic is fucked with.

My favorite character was definitely Dr. Manhattan, but I found myself wanting more as the story unfolded. Who was this man who thought of himself as more than a man, but acted as human as everyone else. This fic takes a peek at the two most screwed up characters I know and shows their human sides very well indeed.

[livejournal.com profile] scarlet_carsons wrote May You Live in Interesting Times . G. Little snippets of childhood.

One of the interesting things about the movie was that it didn't sugarcoat what kind of people it would take to decide to put on costumes and run around acting like superheroes. These people are all broken in some way. This little fic takes a look at the children that grew up to be these broken heroes. It's a quiet, but intense, piece that will really make you think.

Enjoy! And if you do find something you like, please let the author know. :)

Awww... *blushes* Thank you!

And joy to the recs - I hadn't read the last two. Very nice, especially the Interesting Times one.

Have you seen But Don't Owls Eat Moths? (http://watchmenfic.beautifulsinner.net/viewstory.php?sid=45&chapter=1) That's another good one I stumbled over recently, Minutemen era, Mothman/Nite Owl I
