Title: Hidden in the Darkness
Author:
wizefics
Characters/Pairing: Elladan, Elrohir
Rating: All Audiences
Warnings: angst
Book/Source: LOTR, vaguely movie-ish, as is all of my LOTR fics, but not really noticeable
Disclaimer: Not mine, but Tolkien wanted to build a mythology and I think that gives me the right to play in this sandbox.
A/N: This idea was inspired by the quote, although I cannot remember who said it, paraphrased as follows: Be careful when you peer into the darkness lest you see yourself peering back. As always, feedback is welcome and appreciated. Written for the weekly drabble challenge at
tolkien_weekly - "The Dark"
I can see it in his eyes. I can see it in his stance. I can see it in the restless way that his fingers toy with the hilt of his blades.
He hungers for vengeance; for action; for the ability, even for a moment, to forget that he cannot change the past nor control the future.
He seeks absolution for sins he did not commit; forgiveness for wrongs which were not his own; and peace of soul.
He cannot hide these from me, though not only because he is my twin. When I look at him, I see myself.
