Drabble: Once More (LOTR)

Disclaimer: Not mine, but Tolkien wanted to build a mythology and I think that gives me the right to play in his sandbox. The inspirational quote is from Shakespeare's Henry V. However, I have seen the quote using both "into" and "unto," so if "unto" is your preferred version, I must beg artistic liberty. :)

"Once more into the breach, dear friends, once more…" - Henry V
Wearily, the two brothers sought one another on Pelennor Fields, making quick search each of the other's injuries. Hours they had spent after the battle, healing others and ignoring their own wounds.
"Estel will move to the Black Gates," Elladan murmured allowing Elrohir to apply ointment to a gash on his shoulder.
"Aye." Roh answered quietly.
"Are you ready, brother?" El asked his voice and gaze fierce.
Roh stilled, eyes burning. "Aye, a day long hoped for."
"Long awaited."
"Whatever the result…"
"It will be over."
Silently, they donned once more their armor and prepared to march into battle again.

Date: 2007-06-21 12:35 pm (UTC)The version of Henry V I have at home also says "unto," but I know that I'd heard it "into" before and a quick internet search had it listed both ways all over the place. *grins*
Whatever, like I said - artistic liberty!
I really like the idea of the twins as warriors and I just can't imagine them not being almost anxious to march to the Black Gates and finish what they'd been working on for so long.
