Zero Plus One . PG-13. Logan, Bobby. A gorgeous story about healing and friendship and growing older—and how your family, as well as your place in that family, can grow and change too.

Parry and Thrust . NC-17. Wolverine/Gambit. This fic is flirty, sweaty, sexy goodness. It's Gambit pestering Wolverine until the man predictably snaps and gives him just what he wants. In the Danger Room. After an extremely hot "sparring" that's pretty much foreplay. Not much of a plot, but who cares?

Brenda Antrim wrote Mine . NC-17. Logan/Scott. (Movieverse). Feral Wolverine is always something to behold and when he turns feral in order to protect someone, that makes it even better. Scott follows Logan to get back his bike and the two of them are ambushed by Magneto, who tries to use Logan's body as a weapon to kill Scott. Logan fights it with everything he has and imprints on Scott in the process. What follows is protective, possessive Logan and a Scott who finds he doesn't mind quite as much as he would've thought. The fic offers solid writing, nice imagery, and works very nicely as a follow-up to the first X-Men movie.

[livejournal.com profile] cadhla wrote 10 Things About Scott Summers as Seen by Hank McCoy . PG. Hank McCoy (Beast), Scott Summers (Cyclops). (Comicverse) One of my reference fics for Scott Summers' characterisation. Hank's known him from the start but has never been portrayed as a best friend, more like a doitng older brother. His insights are poignant in their logic.

Delphi wrote
14-Gauge . NC-17. Magneto/Pyro. The tension in this fic is superb, and it's such a fantastic way to use superpowers for kinky play.

Doug S wrote
The Fires of Resurrection . PG. Scott Summers, Ororo Munroe, Logan. (Movieverse) I may have recced this before but I do not care! This is a post X3 fic where Scott lives, gosh-darn-it and if that wasn't awesome enough, the action plot involving the Hellfire Club and secret government conspiracies is better than the movies. Added bonus: Cyclops Wolverine snark.

Eoen wrote Pack ‘Verse . NC-17. Logan/Remy LeBeau segues into Logan/Remy LeBeau/Scott Summers. Jean/Storm. This is an older story. It's also a fairly long, very entertaining read that offers all of the following and more: Feral Logan. Likable Scott Summers. Strong, wily Remy. Humor. Affection. Awesome team dynamics. Sinister being sinister. Secrets. Visits to the med lab. Snuggling. Bitchslaps from the past. Sabertooth. Scott sassing Professor X.

[livejournal.com profile] handyhunter wrote It's Not too Early for Dreamin'.G. Jubilee, Hisako. Sometimes you come across a tiny little fic that is an absolutely perfect portrait of a character. Here's Jubilee and her idea of down-time - or is it always up-time for her? Also, roller derby.

[livejournal.com profile] harmonyangel wrote Cherry Chapstick. PG-13. Bobby Drake with bonus Warren Worthington. (Comic-616 Verse). Bobby Drake is definitely my favourite of the original team, with man-whore playboy Warren as a close second. This fic features them both (but not coupled) and just explores Bobby so perfectly wonderfully (and his interactions with the rest of the team! and expanded team! and Jean-Paul is mentioned) that I want to marry it and bear its fic children.

[livejournal.com profile] illiterate wrote Ad Delo Yada. NC-17. Pyro/Magneto. (Movieverse). More author!Pyro in movieverse fic, with bonus calm, manipulative wonderful Magneto!. Great characterization, and just a lovely feel to the prose. :) Seriously, this is how the fic opens: "Like something out of a children’s novel, St. John has been seduced by evil. And seduced is such a lovely word. From the Latin suducere; meaning to lead, or more accurately: to lead away. John has indeed been led away, and his path is unclear in the most appealing manner." It's so goood!

[livejournal.com profile] jay_zelenka wrote Like Sheep From the Fold . PG. Gambit. (Movieverse) Jossed to oblivion by X3, this fic shows Remy as one of the first-gen students. The playful flashbacks contrasts beautifully with Jean's present day funeral.

Jordanna Morgan wrote
Beast . PG. Hank McCoy (Beast) & Ensemble. (Movieverse) When the events of X2 force a shocking change on Hank, he must care for the children who escaped the attack at Xavier's while also processing how his own life has changed. The stillness of the writing makes the dramatic parts so much more meaningful for the reader.

Kaylee wrote The Any Kinda Mooks series ("Any Kinda Breath" in particular). PG-R. Remy LeBeau (Gambit)/Bobby Drake (Iceman). This is one of the first fics I read when getting into the x-men fandom way back in 2004. More than anything I Iove the way the fic approaches real world issues like homophobia and illness. It's hilarious, and occasionally heart breaking.

[livejournal.com profile] keekiotabemasu wrote Rhodium. M. Ensemble (Magneto/Quicksilver, Quicksilver/Scarlet Witch). (Ultimates verse). If you've ever had the opportunity to read Ultimates, you probably know how vastly weird the dynamic between Quicksilver/Scarlett Witch/Magneto is in the verse. This fic captures this perfectly. It's unsettling and powerful and heart-wrenching and perverse and wonderful. The author does such a good job of illustrating just how very very messed up Erik and his kids are in Ultimates, and manages to peg Pietro so well I could die, and Mags too. Holy cow. If you are equally as fascinated by this trainwreck of a family as I am in any verse, this fic is a must read.

L. Burke wrote The Early Years series . PG. Scott Summers , Ensemble. (Comicverse). L. Burke's classic X-Men fics pre-dates the comic book, X-Men: First Class, so it's almost eerie how well she's gotten their interactions. Scott's a LOT snarkier than people expect and it's a flipping JOY every time he opens his mouth. Prepare to literally ROTFL.

*[livejournal.com profile] lithiumlaughter wrote Stolen Tarts. PG. Gambit/Rogue (kinda). (Evo-Verse). What is NOT awesome about genderbending?! This fun fic stars Andrew Raven (Male!Rogue) & Riley LeBeau (Female!Rogue) with awesome snarkiness from Scarlett Summers, Omerede Munroe and Wilhelmina Wilson. Yes. Female!Deadpool.

[livejournal.com profile] little_murmurs wrote A College-Bred Woman . PG. Moira MacTaggert. Yet another fic that I may have recced before but I do not care because it deserves reccing forever. :D Moira's story from college to around X1 fleshes her out as a person with her own opinions that're neither Magneto's nor Xavier's but hovering in the middle.

[livejournal.com profile] luulapants wrote A Comprehensive Guide to Dating Robert Drake .R. Bobby (Iceman)/Pyro. (Movieverse). If you are an X-Men movie verse fan, love Bobby Drake as much as I do, and get giddy for author!Pyro fics, (and are coolbeans about slash,) I completely recommend this fic. It made me laugh right out loud, and is sweet.

O. wrote Logan's Experiment . NC-17. Wolverine/Gambit. This one is a classic "hidden charm powers" fic. It's languid and sexy, with vivid images and a slow, heated build-up that culminates in a shocking splash of cold water when Logan realizes just what the hell he's doing and how closely he's skirting the line of consent. While you may quibble about Remy's characterization, that doesn't change the amazing sensuality of this story, the way the author uses language to paint a picture of desire. It's worth a read just for this.

[livejournal.com profile] penknife wrote Like Sheep From the Fold . G. Charles Xavier, Scott Summers (Cyclops), Bobby Drake (Iceman). How DOES the school decide which students to take? The best line happens in the beginning "Charles has spent his evenings lately searching for seven children who need Xavier's. There are thirty pictures on the desk."

poilass wrote First, Do No Harm by [livejournal.com profile] pixel_0. PG-13. Hank, Bobby. The story is epistolary, told in a series of e-mails and chatroom sessions—so frequently done badly, but when done well, it is awesome. This is an older fic, but I fall in love with it every time I read it. I adore beautifully done friendship fic, and this is fantastic: powerful and loving and heart-wrenching.

[livejournal.com profile] ridesandruns wrote Great Scott (and other snarkiness) .R. Ensemble but mostly Scott Summers (Cyclops) & Logan(Wolverine). I could not decide which fic I loved more so I just recced everything. All her stories are in the same, side-splitting universe where Scott passive-aggressively uses the Blackbird to scare Logan, Logan's tendency to call Scott a "candyass" makes everyone believe he's secretly obsessed with Scott's ass, Scott's cat hates Jean while his dog loves Logan, and Jubilee's motormouth makes a bunch of nuns think Scott & Jean are into BDSM.
[livejournal.com profile] skybright_daye wrote:

Fragility . G. Ensemble Fic (Movieverse). I love the X-Men the most when, instead of megalomaniacal racists, they deal with very human problems such as a very sick child.

I Miss You Most . G. (Movieverse). A classically short and sweet post X-2 fic about Ororo's feelings of loss after the death of her best friend.

[livejournal.com profile] smirnoffmule wrote Cost Plus.PG. Bobby, Rogue. So, why are the X-Men hated and feared? And what does that mean, when you just want to go and buy some music? An outsider POV on the "mutant problem", both its causes and solutions.

Tamarai wrote Collision of Coincidence . PG. Gambit/Rogue + Ensemble. (Movieverse). More action-packed than shippy, this fic plays with Remy as a Merc for Hire and Rogue as someone fighting for control instead of wailing about it. The interactions are snappy & the action keeps you inching towards the edge of your seat.

That jay_zelenka story is actually my "Like a Sheep from the Fold (The Super Sweet Sixteen Remix)". (jay_zelenka was the secret remix author used to make authors anonymous when first posted.) And penknife's story is actually titled "Children's Crusade".
