Seriously, interwebs, how did you not tell me that this video existed for the last three months? Shame on you all!

Kimchi Fried Rice for the Win!
Dec. 22nd, 2010 02:51 pmI feel better.
And I have new clients coming in this afternoon and lots to do before then, but I feel pretty good.
Physically speaking, I still feel like crap, but meh... can't have it all I guess.
*********
I've been doing a lot of thinking over food culture and food shame, re: the post I made a few days ago. I definitely want to submit something to the Food Carnival. I'm really looking forward to it.
*********
Here. Have a Linkin Park vid. :)

I'm a Dork
Dec. 8th, 2010 03:11 pmThis video fascinated me, but in my cynic mode, I scoffed at it.
Then, I read this interview with the director, Dave Meyers:
"We were both very into the idea of getting away from Hollywood and featuring real people in the video," Meyers said. "So we featured real people; they weren't actors. Finding two gay guys in Budapest was a challenge, because it's not as accepted there as it is in West Hollywood. I found an actual, real couple.
"The girl in the video isn't actually a sick girl, but we got her to shave her head, and, if you're an 11-year-old, that's a massive commitment. The people's commitment to it was really beautiful," he continued. "And then in the last scene, that wasn't 250 extras, that was 250 hardcore Katy Perry fans. Those people were jumping because they were loving life."
Yuletide! Music Video Fandoms
Nov. 14th, 2010 11:21 amI have a keen interest in volunteering to write for lots of music video fandoms this year, and in furtherance of that interest - and also out of extreme curiosity - I was hoping that anyone who sees a music video fandom may be willing to point it out to me.
I'm going to drop youtube links in the comments here to the vids that I'm asking for. If they're all gathered in one place, I stand a better chance of finding them! Any/all genres welcome!
Note: Use your own discretion of what is and isn't a "music video." I am not that specific! Thanks!

I know. Hate me if you must, and I hate myself a bit for admitting that I like this, but...
THE SCENE WITH THE GUY WITH THE GLITTER OUT OF HIS SHOULDERS HAS CONVINCED ME THIS IS SOME SORT OF FIGHT BETWEEN FALLEN ANGELS AND I WANT MORE. OMG, I WANT TO READ THAT SO BAD!
Which brings me to a book I read, which someone (Benjamin Bliss) turned into a trailer and won a Book Award for:
The trailer highlights the thing about the book I hated (the Twilight feel of it), but also captures some of the things that made this book impossible to put down. And the ending... ( ambiguous spoilers here )

Ponderings for the Ponderers
Sep. 23rd, 2010 03:34 pmI'm sharing links, because my computer screen is bogged with them.
First, this Snow Patrol song is eating my brain. I love it, and I love the lyrics.
*****************
Now, onto some links about feminism and obesity. No, I'm not kidding. *headdesk*
Has feminism killed the art of home cooking? - wherein Rose Prince blames feminists for obesity.
I... am utterly baffled by this link. Give me a break, please, and quit making other people's choices my fault. *rolls eyes*
Feminism to blame for obesity? Fat chance. - wherein Jessica Reed responds to Ms. Prince in a much more coherent fashion than I could manage.
And thanks to the wonders of the internet, I obtained a copy of the obesity booga-booga article also referenced in Ms. Reed's response. It's an interesting look at the effects of obesity on the individual and on a population as a whole, and the politics of calling obesity a disease.
It draws this conclusion: ( Cut for talk on obesity )

And this is an interesting bit of meta that I'm linking on why people don't write what they claim to want to read. Why am I not writing the stories I say I want to read?
While this article is aimed at fanfic, I think it's an interesting question to consider about original fiction as well.
