Watching the first episode of the second season and *loving* it!
The secondary characters are more prominent already and there's a new woman! A black woman, too! She's awesome. ♥
ETA: Nope, not new. Lainie. I'm just a moron and didn't recognize her at first...
"I'm glad you weren't killed by body killers."
"Me, too."
Oh, how I love Castle and his daughter.
Is anyone reading the murder mystery put out by Nick Castle? I haven't, but I maybe should. I follow along with the mystery on twitter.
LOL! Now he makes fun of CSI and Bourne. Epic.
I really love that both Castle and Beckett are competent. It's a lot more fun that it would be if either of them were dumb.
And Esposito and Ryan join in with the making fun of Castle now. SO MUCH LOVE.
OMG, Beckett speaks Russian. *dies* And she's going to save him.
Yes. I'm a sap. The ending made me cry. Very good, Castle. Very good. It's nice to see someone admit that they were wrong and I'm glad tht Beckett forgave him. She does like him. I love that they are friends - I'm not sure what I think about any shippy tendencies yet. Hopefully, it won't go there until they make me believe it.
Great episode.

Date: 2009-09-22 05:39 pm (UTC)And you're right. I remember that scene. I love that Beckett and the Lainie are friends. "Don't worry. We still hate him."
*grins*
which of course helped my slashing them.
Hmmm, have I missed this? OR is my memory just that horrid? LOL.

Date: 2009-09-22 05:43 pm (UTC)And no, I haven't written NEARLY as much fic for them as I should have. The main reason is that Beckett inspired me to write "Better Angels," which turned into a HUGE thing. But the detective in that story is dating the ME. It's just so much more fun playing in my own universe (in this case) than working with someone else's. ;-D

Date: 2009-09-22 06:19 pm (UTC)And Better Angels - and the sequels which I called "Season 1", since I viewed it sort of like a TV series - all on my website under "Riley Parra Stories." That's Riley in my icon. I wanted her to look more like Beckett, but my muse disagreed. :D

Date: 2009-09-22 06:01 pm (UTC)Yes... somebody hated his guts?! LOL
And yes, mocking CSI and Bourne... you gotta love a man who can poke fun at his own genre.
I so ship Beckett and Castle, but the back-up characters all deserve praise in how they relate to each other. Lainie was awesome in Season One with some zingers that just hit their targets too well, but this episode, she was on FIRE! They'd better get her in more scenes because she's got chemistry with both Beckett and Castle.
And I agree, it's about time someone told men that they suck royally at trying to make-up. It's nice to see how smart the two of them come across, but sincerely real at the same time. People with issues, who want more out of life than just a friendly hello and hope you're okay... and the daughter's beautiful and how she dotes on her dad but relies on him too.
The show's quite brilliant, isn't it?!

Date: 2009-09-22 06:15 pm (UTC)*dies* That was great. The looks on everyone's face were priceless.
I love his family. I love them all. I love that he loves them. I love that he never apologizes for loving them. I love that they so clearly love him.
It's so nice to see that in a tv show, where most of the time family seems to hate each other.
*hugs show*

Date: 2009-09-22 06:41 pm (UTC)I love that Castle respects his daughter and I love that she respects him, too.
I think your ending would have worked better. I think, though, that Beckett had already forgiven him, she just needed him to apologize. I really love, though, that Castle didn't wait to be forgiven. He left that decision to her completely and made his very sincere apology - at least it felt that way to me.
Despite everything, I think Beckett really and truly likes Castle. She wants to forgive him, she just couldn't until he actually understood that what he'd done was wrong - even if it was well meaning, even if it was productive - it was still wrong.
And I think he got that. By the end, I think he really understood. (Though I don't think for a second Alexis wasn't setting him up. *lol*)

Date: 2009-09-22 07:50 pm (UTC)The over all point was really interesting, though. When it comes to the show, I don't mind Castle/Beckett, which to me is snarky fun flirting, innocent innuendo, and what I feel is a genuine friendship.
Richard/Kate - well, the show hasn't even come close to selling me on that. In the beginning, I think Castle would have slept with Beckett without much thought. But now that he knows her and likes her, I think he'd have to really think about it.
I also don't believe - yet - that either one of them are really interested in each other that way, beyond the "maybe" factor. I'd hate to see the show force that angle and destroy what it has, which is unique in a lot of ways.
