Why this must be read: Folks, I don't ever read Bandom fics. But I read this one and I cannot express how much love I have for it. It is brilliantly funny, wonderfully intense, and if all Bandom fics are like this, I've been missing out.

Plus, there is a fantastic plot, quite a bit of action – in all snses of the word- and an ending that tugs on your heartstrings.

I really can't rec this highly enough!

Later than I promised, but for your enjoyment nonetheless. :)

Crossover Recs

[livejournal.com profile] catslash wrote Old Road. Supernatural/Watchmen, PG13. Two of the defining moments of John Winchester's life come to him courtesy of the same man.

I clicked on this because I was interested in a fic with John Winchester and the Comedian, given that both are played by the same actor, Jeffrey Dean Morgan. I wasn't expecting much - but even if I'd been expecting excellent, I'd have been blown away. I was impressed beyond the telling and have spent not an small amount of time pondering things about Viet Nam, the nature of family, and the ways that a total bastard (the Comedian) might have actually done good in the world.

[livejournal.com profile] avamclean wrote Here Be Dragons. Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles/Buffy the Vampire Slayer, FR15. They were found in a dark corner of Century, hidden away by the metal, and left for rot. They were darkness. They were death. They were dragons.

This particular crossover is astonishingly common, but that's because it works so well. I do not often find BtVS fics that I love, but this one has come to mind so many times since I've read it. It's chillingly well done.

[livejournal.com profile] lovelypoet wrote And Away We Go. Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Bandom (Fall Out Boy), PG. "Dear Pete," he writes after filling in the age verification page, thereby confirming that he is far too old to be doing this. "Hi. Please stop being such a whiny emo bastard in public on the world wide web. I dont care what you do in private with your friends or family, but I live with fifteen teenage girls and they have all of your blogs bookmarked. I dont know if you know this, but living with fifteen teenage girls is not anything resembling fun. And when theyre all crying because youre sad its even less fun. Ive tried to use parental block software so they cant get to your blogs, but theyre strong girls and Ive got a limited field of vision. Please, for the sake of my sanity and physical wellbeing... just stop. PLEASE!"

Because, even if you don't get into Bandom, which I don't, this is just funny. *grins*

[livejournal.com profile] penknife wrote Curiosities. X-men Comicverse/Harry Potter, PG13. Tom Riddle meets Erik Lehnsherr, circa 1950. It's an educational evening for them both.

I really like crossovers between X-men and Harry Potter. Mutants and wizards, so alike, and yet so very different. This fic explores some of the similarities, and shows some startling conclusions.

[livejournal.com profile] lyrstzha wrote Parlor Games. Torchwood/Firefly, PG13. “Captain Jack Harkness,” the dark-haired man proclaimed cheerfully, grasping Jayne’s hand and shaking it with almost obscene warmth, in Jayne’s opinion. “Welcome to Torchwood Seventeen. You must be Jayne Cobb.”

This is crack done so well that it ceases to be crack and instead becomes a delightful what-if. It's not long enough to be epic, but the premise is certainly epic. Plus, who doesn't want to see Jayne and Jack match snarky wits?

Okay, this is the first set of recs for April. My plan is to rec at least 30 different things over the month, and this is the first five. I hope you all enjoy them! If you do, please let the author know.

Cheers!
Since I'm useless at work today anyway, I figured I'd speed the time along by giving you guys a set of crossover recs. It's likely going to be a big list. Enjoy! And if you do enjoy, please let the author know.

**************

Good Omens/Supernatural: [livejournal.com profile] oxoniensis wrote A Backdoor to Hell . PG. It's not the strangest request Aziraphale's heard, but it surprises him nonetheless. (Comment: This one was fun and even has footnotes!)

Supernatural/DCU: [livejournal.com profile] dotfic wrote Then You'd Better Not Stay. PG-13. Dean Winchester/Wonder Woman. He's a hunter. She's an Amazon princess. Together, they slay dragons! (Comment: Awesome fic, awesome premise, awesome pairing. What's not to love here?)

Harry Potter/X-men Movierverse: [livejournal.com profile] penknife wrote Stutter. Gen, Lily & Sirius, Charles/Erik (implied). It's a rough flight. (Comment: I love this fic more than I can coherently put into words, more for what isn't said than for what is. It's a brilliant crossover that puts these two worlds together in a way that will leave you wishing for more.)

Harry Potter/Doctor Who: [livejournal.com profile] fly_to_dawn wrote Redheads and Dragon’s Eggs. PG. Now that’s a real mystery,’ she said, ‘it must have been four or five years ago - a stranger left it to my mum, as a gift for me to keep. (Comment: Donna! Charlie! Dragons! Win!)

Harry Potter/Doctor Who: [livejournal.com profile] st_aurafina wrote You Can Never Go Home Again. PG. On the other side of the Veil, Sirius can't help his friends, but he can help someone else's. (Comment: I want this to be canon for both fandoms, please. Please? I'll beg.)

Doctor Who/Torchwood/Iron Man: [livejournal.com profile] st_aurafina wrote Never Have I Ever. PG. Ianto, Donna and Pepper end up at a secretaries'/assistants' conference and have a conversation about their bosses (Comment: Everyone's favorite assistants dish the real truth! Aided by booze. Heee!)

Bandom (My Chemical Romance and Cobra Starship)/Shaun of the Dead: [livejournal.com profile] akire_yta wrote With Just A Touch of My Burning Hand. G. This is sort of an obscure cross-over with the film 'Shaun of the Dead,' and is based off a passing comment in one of the closing scenes. Multimedia. (Comment: Just go and check this out. It's too funny to miss!)

Primeval/Jurassic Park III: [livejournal.com profile] cordeliadelayne wrote Visitors. PG. When a T.Rex goes on a rampage in the ARC, who better to help, than two people who have survived a dinosaur infested island? (Comment: This fic has dinosaurs. And it's also made of awesome. Go and see for yourself!)
